The production of grafted vines is a complex process from grafting to final sorting in nurseries. It is still difficult to assess the internal quality of the joints of grafted screws that reach the market. Anne-Sophie Spilmont of the IFV will demonstrate the potential of X-ray tomography, commonly used in medicine, as a tool to assess the quality of the union of grafted screws in her presentation “X-ray tomography: a promising tool to assess the selection of good quality grafted screws”.
Giuseppe Carella from the University of Florence in his work “Use of microorganisms in the disinfection/protection of organic rooted-cuttings from wood pathogens” assesses the effects of microorganism against the wood pathogens, with the objective of reducing the use of fungicides throughout the production cycle. The research is particularly focused on the nursery sector where it aims to improve both the phytosanitary state of the rooted-cuttings, and the qualitative aspect of the nursery material.
